Scuffletown USA was started in 1971 when the Henry family purchased 33 acres of property
along Gilder Creek near Woodruff Road in Simpsonville.
The land once was part of
the Benjamin Franklin Stairley estate, and had been largely used for cotton production. Mr. Stairley was a man of great wealth
and was the first man from South Carolina's Upstate region to travel across the Atlantic to Europe.
The Henry family was renovating Mr. Stairley's "House of Nine Chimneys" when it burned. They immediately
went to the barn they had built, and converted it into their home using some of the hewn wood tembers from the old house,
as well as the handmade bricks on the Stairley plantation. The timbers, some of the brick, and the old Well House are all
that remains of the original Stairley plantation.
Since that time, Scuffletown USA
has grown to offer a wide veriety of services for people, ranging from our country general store to our RV Park. We even offer
RV & boat storage, perfect for keeping it safe while not in use.
